“Since the 19th century, beauty famously has been described as synonymous with truth; equally a suspicion of absolute truth also engenders a suspicion, even a rejection of absolute beauty. Within the structures of capitalism and the market, museums and galleries, beauty as a subject has invited definition, elaboration, demonstration and display. Equally its reception in the post structuralist period is complicated by analysis, of the ‘experience’ of beauty itself.”
