“The artist Suchender P. from Mysore, in his exhibition of paintings ‘Breaking News’ at the Anant Gallery in Delhi has, for years now, been turning the ‘news moment’ into paintings, almost as if by stilling the moment of tragedy he is attempting to retrieve and preserve a historical moment of our times for eternity.
...He through his elaborately choreographed canvases, draws our attention to the individual act of the assassin, contextualizing it as a collective act of a conspiring group of disgruntled people often harboring right wing ideology. Abraham Lincoln the American president, who sought to create an egalitarian society, Mahatma Gandhi and his follower Martin Luther King Jr, leader of the American civil rights movement as well as Indira and Rajiv Gandhi are some of the significant assassinated personalities he chooses to represent in his works.”
