“But as he goes about his sculptures, Vinod does not lose sight of the playfulness that working with clay has always meant for him. And so one has the spindle top vases, the double and single wall bowls, and the generous platters that are his trademark. At these moments, one always feels that there is the sensibility of the designer in Vinod, that struggles to emerge, sometimes smothering the object in a riot of glossy blue-greens, and at times treading the minimalist route with geometric strips of colour silently doing a Spartan double-take.
The present solo exhibition, one of the most representative of Vinod Daroz's recent work, brings together a fine collection of his temple/garbagriha sculptures, flat plate murals, bowls and platters, and spindle top vases.”
