In interrogating the materiality of sewing and embroidery, Aastha Dutta engages with her natural surroundings, familial remembrances, migration and transference, and her cultural identity. Her works – reminiscing fond childhood memories with her grandmother – experiment with needle and thread, crafting warps and wefts over a variety of surfaces including paper, terracotta, organic food, and inanimate objects.
