Laxmipriya Panigrahi (b. 1989, Baleshwar, India) is an artist best known for her miniature-inspired surreal landscapes. An alumna of Balasore Art and Crafts College, Orissa (Bachelor of Visual Arts in Painting, 2013) and Utkal University of Culture, Orissa ( Master of Visual Arts in Painting, 2015), Laxmipriya’s artistic practice embodies a fusion of stylistic elements drawn from the traditional miniatures and pattachitra paintings of Orissa. Working predominantly with watercolour on paper, her intimate and fantastical landscapes reflect a laborious commitment to detail and can be described as kaleidoscopes of bright, vibrant and joyous colours. She received a silver Kalakand Grant in painting from the Prafulla Dahanukar Art Foundation (Mumbai, 2021), the Odisha State Award, the Prafulla Dahanukar Art Foundation, India (Mumbai, 2019), The Emerging Artist Award and the 91st AIFACS Award for Painting (New Delhi, 2018). Her recent exhibitions include Art Dubai with Anant Art (Dubai, 2024), Off Margins: Miniatures in the Postmodern, curated by Khushboo Jain, Art and Charlie,(Mumbai, 2024), The Figure of Sound, a group exhibition curated by Preeti Bahadur, Shridharani Gallery (New Delhi, 2023), etc. Laxmipriya lives and works in New Delhi.
