Aisha Khalid (b. 1972, Faisalabad, Pakistan) is a contemporary visual artist from Lahore, Pakistan. She graduated from the National College of Arts, Lahore in 1997 with a specialisation in miniature painting and obtained her Post-Graduate Degree in Fine Art from the Rijksakademie, Amsterdam, Netherlands, in 2003 where she attended as a part of the International residency program. Aisha’s work deals with socio-political issues informed by her personal experiences around gender and cultural polarities between the East and the West and is expressed in a contemporary language rooted in tradition. Her practice incorporates video, textiles, embroidery and paint, and site-specific installations, amongst other media, to bring her ideas into visual reality. Her works have been exhibited in the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Royal Academy, London, the Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art at QAGOMA, Australia, and the Fukuoka Museum, Japan, among others.
